Twinkle twinkle little stone: utilizing color Doppler in emergency ultrasound diagnosis of a ureterovesicular stone
نویسندگان
چکیده
Case report A case of a 43-year-old woman presenting with acute left flank pain is reported. Method and result Point-of-care ultrasound utilizing color Doppler revealed a twinkling artifact at the left ureterovesicular junction, consistent with a ureterovesicular stone. The sonographic findings and significance of the twinkling artifact are described.

A Prospective Comparative Study of Color Doppler Ultrasound with Twinkling and Noncontrast Computerized Tomography for the Evaluation of Acute Renal Colic.
PURPOSE We performed a prospective comparison of the use of twinkling color Doppler ultrasound and noncontrast computerized tomography in the diagnosis of renal colic in emergency room patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 815 consecutive adult patients with suspected renal colic presented to the emergency room and were evaluated immediately with color Doppler ultrasound and noncontrast ...
متن کاملInduced twinkle aftereffect as a probe of dynamic visual processing mechanisms
After viewing a blank patch surrounded by a dynamic noise stimulus (a video "snowstorm"), viewers report the prolonged perception of twinkle in the unstimulated region of the blank patch. We compare this induced twinkle aftereffect to the filling-in phenomenon, which may be seen in a small blank region, under similar test conditions but during stimulation. We found that strong induced twinkle a...
متن کاملSonographic detection of renal and ureteral stones. Value of the twinkling sign.
PURPOSE To compare the detection of urinary stones using standard gray scale ultrasound for diagnostic accuracy using the color Doppler "twinkling sign". MATERIALS AND METHODS Our study population consisted of forty-one patients who demonstrated at least one urinary stone on unenhanced CT evaluation of the kidneys or ureters. Each patient was evaluated using gray scale ultrasound and color Do...
متن کاملI-47: Doppler Ultrasound Diagnosis of Intrauterine Lesions
Background In patients with abnormal uterine bleeding, transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) is the first-line diagnostic approach to exclude endometrial pathology. If a thickened endometrium suggests endometrial pathology, sonohysterography, office hysteroscopy or dilatation and curettage are the second-line tests preferred, depending on availability and on the suspected pathology, to exclude malignan...
متن کاملTwinkle: Network Power Scheduling in Sensor Networks (UCB/CSD-05-1409)
We present our experience with Twinkle, the first implementation of network-layer power scheduling with real applications. Twinkle uses dynamically created schedules to schedule network flows in sensor networks. The scheduling allows nodes to turn off their radio when idle, thus saving power. Twinkle supports broadcast and partial flows for flexibility, and integrates time synchronization to en...
